The Primus B-School Library is a knowledge hub designed to support academic excellence, research, and professional development. It offers a rich collection of management books, journals, case studies, and digital resources that cater to students, faculty, and researchers. With a quiet and technology-enabled environment, the library encourages learning, innovation, and informed decision-making.

The Primus School of Management Studies Library has established a strong reputation for upholding high academic standards. Serving as the intellectual hub of the institution, the Library and Information Centre caters to the educational and research needs of students, faculty, and researchers across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in science, social science, humanities, and management.

As one of the key pillars supporting the institution’s academic excellence, the library has evolved into a centre of excellence by embracing advancements in information and communication technologies. It houses an extensive collection of over 1,000 books, CDs, DVDs, and subscriptions to the latest journals and periodicals.

The library actively participates in UGC’s INFLIBNET and INFONET initiatives, ensuring that users benefit from a wide range of digital resources, research support services, and network-based academic information.

Library and Information Centre

The Library and Information Centre functions as an integral part of the Primus School of Management Studies. It plays a vital role in supporting academic learning, teaching, and research activities of the institution.

Primary Objectives

  • To develop a comprehensive and up-to-date collection of books, reports, management journals, and other non-book materials relevant to the disciplines taught and researched at the institution.

  • To systematically organize both conventional and digital information resources to ensure efficient and timely access for all users.

  • To disseminate information through documentation lists and current awareness services, enabling teachers and researchers to stay informed about the latest developments in their respective fields.

  • To provide additional services such as compiling current and retrospective bibliographies, arranging photocopies, and procuring preprints, reprints, and other reference materials.

  • To adopt information technology and computer applications for fast and effective information storage, retrieval, and access.

  • To participate in resource-sharing initiatives, including NDL and e-PG Pathshala, for the benefit of users.

  • To serve as an information hub supporting all departments of the institution.

Mission 

The mission of the Primus School of Management Studies Library is to support and enrich teaching, learning, research, and service for all its users. The Library fosters intellectual growth and creativity by building strong collections, enabling seamless access to information resources, guiding users in effective information use, promoting critical evaluation skills, and providing dedicated research assistance. 

 

1. Eligibility for Library Membership

All students, faculty members, and administrative staff of Primus School of Management Studies are eligible for library membership.


2. Procedure for Library Membership

  • Library Membership Forms are available at the Library Office during working hours.

  • Students (UG and PG) must submit the duly filled form to the Librarian along with one passport-size photograph.

  • Newly appointed faculty members must submit the membership form along with a copy of their appointment order and four stamp-size photographs to obtain library cards.


3. Circulation Policy

  • Borrowing privileges are extended only to registered library members against a valid college ID card.

  • Faculty members may borrow up to three books for a period of one month.

  • PG students may borrow three books, and UG students may borrow two books, for a period of 15 days.

  • Newly acquired books will be issued only after completion of technical processing.

  • Reference books, rare books, and unbound periodicals are generally not issued, except with the written permission of the Librarian.

  • Members may consult books within the library only after submitting their ID card to the Librarian. No faculty member or student is permitted to borrow two copies of the same title by the same author.

  • The Librarian reserves the right to refuse the issue of a book to any member or to recall a book at any time without assigning a reason.


4. Renewal of Issued Books

  • Books must be physically presented at the library for renewal.

  • Renewal is permitted only if another member has not reserved the book.

  • In the case of reserved books, priority will be given to the member at the top of the reservation list.


5. Overdue Charges and Responsibilities

  • An overdue fine of ₹2.00 per book per day will be charged for late returns.

  • Members must return all borrowed books before proceeding on long-term leave.

  • Borrowers are responsible for any damage or mutilation of library materials noticed at the time of return.

  • All library books and borrowers’ cards must be returned to obtain a No Due Certificate from the library.

  • Failure to clear library dues may result in suspension of borrowing privileges until the dues are paid.


6. Loss or Damage of Books

In the event of loss or damage to a book, the member must either replace the book or pay double the book’s cost within 15 days. If a single volume from a multi-volume set is lost, the entire set must be replaced.


7. Loss of Borrower’s Card

Members are responsible for the safekeeping of their Borrower’s Cards. In case of loss, it must be reported immediately to the Librarian. A fee of ₹40/- will be charged for the issue of each duplicate Borrower’s Card.

  • Only registered members are allowed to use the Library.

  • Registered members are issued a Library membership identity card.

  • Members should produce their ID cards at the entrance of the Library.

  • If the books are not returned within the due date, a fine of Rs. 1/- per day will be charged for the default.

  • Duplicate Borrower’s Ticket will be issued on payment of a fee of Rs. 50/- each.

  • Readers should observe strict silence and switch off their mobile phones in the Library premises.

  • Borrower’s tickets/Library membership ID cards issued by the library are non-transferable.

  • Underlining, scribbling, and tearing of pages or any other type of mutilation of books is strictly prohibited and will be severely dealt with.

  • Reference books and periodicals are not issued out.

  • Borrowers must satisfy themselves with the physical condition of books before borrowing.

  • Members are responsible for books issued against their tickets.

  • Readers are not allowed to bring personal books or any printed material and other personal belongings like bags, umbrellas, etc. inside the Library. These materials are to be kept at the Property Counter at their own risk.

  • Readers are advised not to leave their valuable items like money, passport, credit card, etc. at the Property Counter.

  • Readers should not write in, mark, or otherwise disfigure/damage books, furniture, etc.

  • The library can recall any issued book even before the due date.

  • If a book is lost, the Librarian has the power to decide whether the book has to be replaced or a fine is to be paid by the borrower. The fine could be up to two (2) times the book’s current value.
